Digital Learning

My portfolio for ‘Exploring Digital Learning’ will be a collection of summaries, notes, and any necessary writings to input into my blog.

Due to not being able to upload my powerpoint as a document, I have uploaded it on slideshare where you can view by clicking on the text above. My script is originally in the notes section on my powerpoint slides but it is not accessible via slideshare, so it will be written here.

My presentation script for the second scenario powerpoint presentation is as it follows:

Slide 1: ‘How to: Make a Cup of Coffee’

-My scenario for today will be on how to make a cup of coffee by using an e-learning interactive short demo.

Slide 2: ‘Aims & Learning Outcomes’

-The aims for this scenario are to explore the production process of coffee and to acknowledge various types of coffee.

-The learning outcome is to successfully learn how to make yourself a cup of coffee.

Slide 3: ‘Scenario Information’

-The design approach that I will be using for this scenario will be a scrolling page with multiple interactions.

-The demo will run around 20 to 40 minutes depending on how well the user is interacting with this scenario.

-It will start off with an introduction stating that making the perfect cup of coffee requires three elements: Water, coffee, attention. Once you scroll down after reading the introduction, the user will see one simple question which they would have to choose the correct answer to. There are no penalties for choosing the wrong answer, they can simply retry until they find the correct answer. The question is simple, “How long do you think it takes to make a cup of coffee?”. But the idea behind this question is to get the user interested and actually be able to interact with this scenario. After the user is done with the question, they must scroll down where they will find a timeline of the production process of coffee. There are ten steps in this process, with the first one being ‘Planting’, and the last one being ‘Brewing Coffee’. Users must keep scrolling to go through the timeline and within each step they will find multiple forms of media being used, such as a quick video on how to plant a coffee bean seed. There will also be multiple images being displayed. The only audio that will be available is the audio on the videos that are uploaded, but there will also be two simple sounds that the user will hear when they select an answer for a question. They will hear the sound ‘Ding’ if their answer is correct or they will hear ‘Beep’ if the answer they chose is incorrect. After scrolling past the timeline, the last page of this demo will be a short interactive quiz that will test the users knowledge on types of coffee.

Refer to the next slide for an example of the interface design layout on ‘quiz on types of coffees’
